Solis Calls for Federal Invesigation Denouncing Voter Intimidation Letters

Washington, D.C. -  Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis (CA-32) calls for a federal investigation in reaction to reports that letters attempting to intimidate voters were sent to Latino residents in Orange County:

“Any attempt to suppress the voting rights of Latinos in Orange County, Calif., should be immediately investigated by the federal government.  Voting is a protected right for every U.S. citizen, immigrant or native-born, regardless of race, ethnicity, age or social status.

“Despite numerous and devious acts to intimidate Latino voters, there are laws that protect voters from discrimination and ensure a fair and equal voting process for all. These laws must be enforced and include swift punishment for those found guilty of engaging in voter intimidation and suppression.”
