Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis (CA-32) issued the following statement on the Congressional Immigration field hearings: 

“These hearings are nothing more than political grandstanding.  They serve only to highlight the Republican Party’s failure to secure our border, enact comprehensive immigration reform, and implement the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations. 

“President Bush and his party – which control all three branches of the federal government – have chosen to stall and grandstand rather than take real action to protect the American people and to reform our outdated immigration laws.”
